Film adaptation of the play by Samuel Beckett. Winnie and Willie are a middle-aged couple. Winnie, who is increasingly buried in a mound of sand, is an incurable optimist. She faithfully follows the routine of each day, praying, brushing her teeth, reminiscing about the past to her husband while he reads the newspaper. Oblivious to her encroaching end as the sand engulfs her, she proclaims the vacuum of her life 'another happy day'.
