A. Yes, University Faculty (with Faculty ID ) may check out materials for up to four hours at a time for classroom use. Materials in use by the Cinema and Media Studies curriculum are "on reserve" and are not available for off-site use. It is best to call ahead and make sure the titles you want are available.

Q. Can I check out materials to take home?
A. The FSC Video Archive is a non-circulating collection. Items may only be used on-site or in a University of Chicago classroom.

Q. Can I send my Course Assistant to pick up tapes?
A. All materials for off-site use must be checked out by a member of the faculty. Items may, however, be returned to the FSC by your Course Assistant.
Q. Can I send my students to the FSC to watch a tape?
A. The Film Studies Center is a resource for students and faculty of the Committee on Cinema and Media Studies (CMS), however, all students, faculty, and staff of the University are welcome to watch materials at the FSC for research purposes. Patrons must have a valid University ID and sign up in the Viewing Room, Cobb 306, before they can check out materials. Space is limited and CMS students have first priority for viewing. Please try to avoid sending non-CMS students during the middle of the quarter (weeks 5 - 7) when use of the Center is at its heaviest.
Q. Can I place videos on reserve for my students to watch?
A. The FSC can occasionally place a tape on reserve for students to view. Please contact the Assistant Director to set this up.
Q. Can I book a screening in the FSC auditorium/classrooms?
A. The FSC screening rooms are intended for Cinema Media Studies curriculum and are generally unavailable for outside screenings. The best way to secure a screening space is to contact the Registrar's Office at 702-7883 and reserve a multimedia classroom. Please call the FSC Assistant Director at 702-1118 to make specific inquiries about non-cirricular screenings and events.

The best way to get the title you need is to contact the appropriate bibliographer at the Regenstein Library and have him/her order it for you. Facets Multimedia is also an excellent source for renting or purchasing video and DVD titles.
