When the tenants of a building owned by a blind and quarrelsome old man named Ottavio discover his collection of valuable 16th century artwork, they plan to steal it in this thriller. Suspicious of his tenants, Ottavio enlists the aid of a young policeman, Inspector Natali, to contact his niece Clara, his only living relative. Her arrival upsets the plans of the tenants, but they conspire to have her join their scheme. When Ottavio is found dead, his safe emptied, the intricate plot unfolds.
